"Sensual Sundays is like getting up in the morning and being given the GIFT of being a woman. All the best things we have in our essence are lovingly called and enchanted into our lives. From the thrilling laughter you will feel falling forth from your lips to the divine magnetism that will bust loose from your hips to the sacred forgotten lull of a whisper "you are divine"! Oh what a way to feel! The Samba - Qoya combo is a full body/full soul experience with Devla and Rochelle taking you on a power, love, joy ride!"
-Julia Ball on Sensual Sundays: Founder and Designer of Butterfly Rock, Stylist
This day and age it is radical to love oneself. It is daring to radiate personal bliss.
Especially if you are a woman.
Yet more and more, the opportunity for evolution of the feminine experience proves that it is a woman's right to indulge herself in boundless soulful pleasure.
And furthermore, it is her duty.
Sensual Sundays is a Los Angeles based workshop that holds a space for the embodied experience of this sacred awakening. It is a time for women to gather and unleash her innermost Wild nature through celebration while basking in a beauty soaked sacred space.
A typical Sensual Sunday is a journey within, employing techniques that have withstood the test of time — including hypnosis, oracle reading, meditation, yoga, spa rituals, and most importantly, sensual dance. In joining this session, one can expect to cleanse the soul, press reset and emerge with a renewed sense of self — experiencing what it means to be wholeheartedly present in your body, mind, and spirit.
This sensuous movement was created by two illuminated beacons of the Goddess movement, Imperatrix Amaia and Rochelle Schieck. These renowned dancers/healers infuse this course with their natural synergy and the backdrop of Los Angeles' ever growing conscious community. Rochelle, Founder or Qoya and Devla Mahler "Imperatrix", Founder of The Carnavalesque Beauty Movement respectively unite to provide the experience of healing incarnate. The combined techniques of each of their lifelong journeys as pioneers of a fully liberated femininity are what makes this practice so unique.
How do you know when you’re doing it right? “When it feels good”, emphasizes Rochelle, underlining perhaps the most integral lesson in sensuality in a curriculum that seeks to teach that there is no need for permission to soak in ones own desires. Bliss is your birthright and replacing rush, rules, and the pits of emotion with a deep trust in inner wisdom, flow and acceptance is always a worthy journey.
Recently named one of Oprah's Top Spiritual Workouts, there is a global community of women who indulge in Founder Rochelle Schieck's philosophy that “through movement, we remember. We remember our essence is Wise, Wild and Free.” Qoya, meaning Queen in Quechuan, is an exercise in accessing this innate freedom through "the physical sensation of truth in your body". In her speech given at Catalyst Creativ 2014, she asks, "can you imagine a way of living where that sensation of truth could be North on your compass?" What exactly does this mean to a participant in a Qoya course? Guidance in confronting the emotional, physical, spiritual roadblocks that restrict honest movement of the mind, body and spirit. From start to finish, Qoya invites its participants to examine that which restricts the body and mind from accessing what the heart and spirit desire most.
Devla Mahler "Imperatrix", 2012 Rio de Janeiro Carnaval Queen, is no stranger to the global impact of dance. After her passion for movement was thwarted very early on in her youth by experiencing two wars and enduring oppression of femininity she experienced growing up in the Middle East, Devla went on to embark upon an unlikely path for herself after leaving Kuwait where she was raised.
Against all odds, she became a world renowned Performer — first as a Flamenco Dancer in Southern Spain, next Samba and title as the First non Brazilian Carnaval Queen of Rio de Janeiro. From this spurred the calling to share the deep spiritual practices she learned along the way. Thus, she create The Carnavalesque Beauty Movement to share her experience of celebration through the art of soulful, ecstatic dance. She has dedicated her voice as a Public Figure to uplifting and empowering women on a personal to universal scale with this creative movement as a channel. She continues on this path as a Clinical Hypnotherapist launching the World's Premiere Mind, Body, Spirit wellness center — Paradise, The Hypnosis Spa as a space for this movement to grow.
In the words of Amaia, "The Carnavalesque Beauty Movement is a multi-layered consciousness shifting dance discipline that creates an initiation of sacred beauty in women through the structured study and diligent practice of wild, cultivated, elevated, passionate, ecstatic movement. I intricately developed and engineered this practice & its detailed curriculum through a global compilation of my own first-hand experiences of initiation in the perennial traditions of some of the world’s most ancient, ecstatic dance disciplines, The Carnavalesque Beauty Movement curriculum, workshops, classes and retreats, create a powerful “Maximum-energy in Self-celebration” context for women to freely revel and relish in total unabashed Carnaval style abandon, at the beauty and joy of their fully expressed, fully released sensuality in motion.
The Carnavalesque Beauty Movement classes combine the traditional benefits of fitness including strength, flexibility, balance, endurance and agility training all the while nourishing, cultivating and energizing all the different levels of consciousness in a woman (sensual, emotional, mental, spiritual, and energetic) engaging and integrating the Deepest, most authentic parts of Her Self."
Together, the experience created and shared by Rochelle and Imperatrix as a part of Sensual Sunday as well as in their independent classes and retreats is undeniably ethereal. Combined, as separate, they are opening the hearts of leagues of women who are ready to embark upon a life of sensuality unbridled.
